New Fine Art Photographs – Parry’s Agave
Parry’s Agave is an amazing plant. You may have heard of them also being called Century Plants. It’s commonly said that they live for 100 years, then bloom and die. However, they only live for about 25 years, and can bloom after they are 10 years old. It is true that they die after they bloom. The stalk of the bloom can have a diameter of over 2 inches, and I’ve seen them grow almost a foot a day. The stalk can be 12 feet tall, and the blooms can spread out to 6 feet across.
I’ve been trying to photograph one of these plants for years, but they usually grow in areas that are hard to reach. A few weeks ago I not only came across a Parry’s Agave that was in an easily accessible place, but it was one of the most magnificent examples that I have ever seen.
Here are two of the four photographs that I have just added to my site, www.JeffColburn.com. You can go there to see all of the photographs of Parry’s Agave.
Have Fun,
Jeff
