When entering a photo contest, read the fine print

4 September, 2010 (00:28) | Contests, Photography, Comment | No comments

Before you enter a photography contest, be sure to read the fine print. More and more contests are grabbing sweeping rights to use the images that photographers enter into their competition. I’ve even seen contests where all rights to the entered photographs are transferred to the company running the contest.
Today I was going to enter […]

A Photo Tip

7 June, 2010 (23:11) | Photography, Comment, Article | No comments

One of the problems with digital photography is that there are no consequences for being a sloppy photographer, or just bad. You can shoot hundreds of images, and delete them all, and it doesn’t cost you a penny. There’s no monetary incentive to improve.
I went digital two years ago, but for the 33 years before […]

Your Copyright Is Useless!

23 March, 2010 (22:36) | Writing, Comment, Personal Note | 2 comments

There are numerous websites that let anyone upload anything and claim they are not responsible if copyright protected material is uploaded. They are happy to remove the protected material, if you can prove the work is yours and if you know your work is on their website.
Thanks to Google Alerts, I located three sites that […]

When the snow storms finished with the Southwest, it was still pretty cold outside. Here are a couple of fountains I photographed in Sedona, Arizona at about 11:00 am. No shorts and tank tops today.

Attention Writers!

Hello,
Last week I found that www.Scribd.com was letting people download an ebook of mine for free (at two separate locations on their website), without my permission and in violation of my copyright. This is a book that I sell on my website, and so far, over 500 people have read/downloaded my ebook from Scribed, which […]

Happy Holidays Everyone!

18 December, 2009 (12:28) | Music, Creative, Fun, Comment, Personal Note | No comments

Every year I have a posting with some of my favorite Holiday music. I hope you enjoy this years selections.
I’ve always been a big fan of Jewel’s music and poetry, and was fortunate enough to see her in concert in Phoenix, Arizona several years ago. This song shows what a beautiful voice she has. Listen […]

Snow, snow everywhere!

10 December, 2009 (22:22) | Photography, Fun, Comment | 1 comment

That was one heck of a storm that came through northern Arizona. It dumped about 24 inches in town, with more in the outlying areas. Snow Bowl ski area got 36 inches.
Here’s some winter wonderland just outside of Flagstaff, Arizona.
Have Fun,
Jeff
