This week’s E-Staycation will take you to Walnut Canyon National Monument, Arizona.
Walnut Canyon is a wide canyon of rock, petrified sand dunes and pine forest with a peninsula of rock sticking out into the canyon for a short distance. The sides of the canyon and peninsula are dotted with Native American rock dwellings.
We’ve visited several times, in all kinds of weather. I remember being there one time when it started raining heavily. We found shelter in one of the old dwellings, and at that moment we shared an experience with all the people who ever lived there. A shared experience going back over 1,000 years. It was amazing and humbling.
